Eva Alfaro-Cid received the degree in industrial engineering from the Universidad de Zaragoza, Spain, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Glasgow, U.K. She has more than nine years of experience in academic research as well as in industry. She has participated in research projects in the field of artificial intelligence. She has published three book chapters and more than 35 articles in international journals and conferences and belongs to the program committee of several of them. During her stay at the University of Glasgow her research was focused on the optimization of automatic controllers using evolutionary computation. Since then, her work has addressed real-world classification, prediction, and regression problems. In 2005 Dr. Alfaro-Cid was a recipient of the Juan de la Cierva Research Fellowship.
